Wood Waves, 2019
From October 16th, 2019 the window of Salvioni Milano Durini turns into Wood Waves: percorso di un Pensiero”, a new project specially made for this space created by the many-sided designer and artist Elena Salmistraro.
This collection tells of circles and spheres, perfect geometries that have always been connected to philosophical concepts related to nature and the sacred. But above all, it speaks of wood and metal, of veins, of essences and colors. These are the elements, the actors, and these want to be the undisputed protagonists of the intervention, which does not set itself the goal of celebrating a habitual domestic interior but tries to go further, to stage a different way of observing the world. , a different way of drawing wood. The result is a monochromatic space, marked by veins that want to be a reference even slightly hidden from the “wrinkles” of the wood, sinuous waves that recall the soft movement of the sea: Wood Waves, in fact.
The ‘Giants’ with Antonio Aricò, 2019
Altreforme presents Mata and Grifo, the new coat hangers cabinet with a mirror created by the genius respectively of Antonio Aricò and Elena Salmistraro. The two creations evoke the huge papier-mache sculptures on the occasion of the city patronal feasts. Two polyvalent elements, metaphors of altreforme extravagant and kaleidoscopic reality.

Urban Living Milano, 2019
The polyhedric designer has been invited by Vitra to interpetare the spirit of the metropolis with an installation at Spotti Milano. The eclectic personality of Elena Salmistraro – at the same time a painter, illustrator, and designer – is ideal for interpreting the theme of Vitra Home Stories 2019. Shades, figures, experimentations, and allusions are freely and continuously mixed in four domestic environments: living, dining, studying, and playing.
The scenery designed by the Milanese designer – which combines home and city – hosts some of the great classics of the Vitra collection: the Living Tower by Verner Panton, the Eames Elephant, the Marshmallow Sofa by George Nelson and the Standard Chair by Jean Prouvé. Elena Salmistrarotransversally employs the color and material library of the Swiss company to portray an early summer Milanese sunset: warm, cheerful, and proud.
