This modern restaurant was designed by award-winning interior designer Joyce Wang in collaboration with Maximal Concepts. Mott 32 is located on the casino floor of The Palazzo at The Venetian Las Vegas.
The interior seamlessly blends lofty New York industrial style with Chinese imperial elements, imbuing the space with a sleekness and elegance that is punctuated by unexpected but unpretentious details. It tells the story of Hong Kong’s past, with an added layer of details rich in Las Vegas culture, such as a luxury dining table made out of a vintage Roulette wheel, or a contemporary chandelier adorned with a feather boa. These design elements, along with the venue’s open, spacious and inviting layout, provide the perfect setting for a full fine-dining experience.
“We approached the interiors by referencing the past and then reimagining it. We did it by fusing two very strong, individual cultures to create an exciting, modern universe for diners,” Wang explains. “We spent countless hours absorbing the small nuances of these disparate cultures and finding ways to make them speak the same design language,” she adds.
A massive luxury chandelier dripping in chains crowns the focal entry to the main dining room and a series of more intimate dining spaces that radiate from the center. Flashes of neon lighting nod to the proliferation of neon signage in both Hong Kong and Vegas. Handcrafted, silk-embroidery Chinoiserie wall coverings by Fromental pay homage to the West’s centuries-long fascination with Chinese design. Tabletops covered in reproductions of antique Chinese coins strike a pitch-perfect note for the Vegas setting, and a graffiti-covered wall by artist Joe-Joe Ngai bolsters the fresh, lively ambiance. Of course, the gourmet cuisine is pretty darn good, too.
