The Inception-Inspired Modern Dining Table By Telios Mousarris
Last year, designer Stelios Mousarris envisioned the ‘Wave City’ coffee table. This year, the designer expanded on the theme to include a modern dining table. The Cyprus-based creative bent reality by folding a wooden landscape of buildings in half, and using the overlapping surface as the tabletop. Informed by the 2010 film inception — which brought viewers into a world where dreams could be manipulated, controlled and coordinated — mousarris’ coffee table depicted an urban sidewalk that seemingly lifted into the air, before finally folding back onto itself in a single, continuous curve.
The “Wave City” dining table is made out of steel, wood and 3D components, and using hand-painted coloring techniques, the limited edition piece spans 250 cm in length, 76 cm in height, and 150 cm in width. a glass surface placed atop the undulating S-shaped unit acts as a tabletop for users to dine on.
