Out Of The Ordinary: Christopher Boots Lighting Design For Your Contemporary Dining Room
The Christopher Bootsstudio was founded on material and metaphysical exploration of quartz crystal, birthing a signature aesthetic. Exploring relationships between architecture, symbology, and geometry found in nature offers a contemporary interpretation of pattern, structure, and symmetry. All works are handmade with love and care, with a diverse team of skilled artisans.
We design, prototype and build in our Melbourne studios, honoring traditional elements of form, proportion and scale, marrying traditional and cutting edge materials with various techniques, creating future antiques designed for transforming architecture.

Meteors slash through the sky, dazzling all who witness their strangeness. It is this primal, cosmic energy that is captured in METEOR. This lighting design implements a delicate hand-picked selection of gradations of natural smoky quartz and natural clear quartz, conveying the dynamism and movement of cosmic matter plummeting to Earth. Designed by Christopher Boots, warm light emanates through the naturally uncut crystals, providing a dramatic glow through the use of dimmable LED technology.
Prometheus stole fire from the Gods of Mt Olympus and gave it to humankind. More than the means for survival- light and technology, Prometheus’ gift represented creative potential. The spark of creation, previously limited to the Gods, gave mortals the power to dream, create, imagine and challenge.
PROMETHEUS I is an ascending blaze of crystal quartz, venerating its namesake in a ring of flame, embodying the Christopher Bootsrough-luxe aesthetic and is considered a contemporary classic design. PROMETHEUS II hangs natural quartz crystals downwards like Swords of Damocles, simultaneously displaying signature aesthetics of object, light, and form.
PHASMIDA comes from the Greek φάσμα “phasma”, meaning phantom or apparition and describes the momentary visibility of the unseen. Phasmida or Phasmatodea are an order of insects, commonly known as stick insects or walking sticks. This contemporary pendant light draws inspiration from both phasma and Phasmatodea, linking the supernatural vision of the former with the arboreal form of the later in a highly versatile branching pendant. A stunning work by Christopher Boots.
SIMPLE SERIES emphasizes beauty and grace within the slightest of gestures. Transforming minimalist icons into glowing beacons, these pendant lightings perfectly illustrates that often, less is enough. SIMPLE Z is a tipped transversal structure with four glass tubes. BCAA 21 CUSTOM
The process of making a light establishes a certain intimacy between the object and the individual. As makers, we have developed a close relationship with every weld mark, drill point, crystal and LED that together form the work. Each light, before it leaves the studio, has been lovingly handled by the person who made it, and who knows it better than anyone else. This however, is just the beginning.
