Faceted Dining Chairs, USA, 2018
Taking inspiration from the twisting forms of organic materials, Markus Haase hand-carves each element of his unique dining chair before casting it in polished bronze. The bronze components appear as animated waves, columns of smoke, or curling seaweed. Shown upholstered in white pony hair, the chair can be upholstered in a variety of materials. The back-rest can also be created in hand-carved wood.

Bronze, Walnut, and Limestone Dining Table, USA, 2018
Markus Haase’s one-of-a-kind 12-foot handcrafted dining table features a sculpted American black walnut top resting on a bronze tripod, supported by a carved limestone base. The modern dining table’s tripod base, cast in polished bronze, appears as animated waves or columns of smoke. Contrasting the brilliance of the tripod’s mirror-polished bronze, the soft hand-carved limestone base anchors the table in perfect harmony.
Bronze and Onyx Circlet Chandelier, USA, 2018
Markus Haase’s latest group of lighting design, The Circlet Series, employs fresh and innovative design techniques, incorporating sensuous forms with decidedly abstract modernist influences. Each faceted, asymmetric component is sculpted to dynamically catch and reflect light. The shaped rings, appearing as animated waves or columns of smoke, are cast in polished bronze and set with hand-carved onyx diffusing the warm glow of hidden LEDs.
Combining a mastery of traditional sculpting techniques with a contemporary, material-driven approach to design, Markus Haase is one of the only artists working today, crafting unique works in bronze. Rather than using the casting process as a mechanism for producing multiples, each of his bronze and onyx light sculptures is completely one-of-a-kind. With his recent Circlet Series, the designer is quickly growing a reputation as a master jeweler for architectural accessories. The series includes bespoke chandeliers and sconces.
