Abyss Dining Table: Have Dinner In The Deep Sea

Designed by Christopher Duffy of Duffy London, the Abyss Dining Table resembles a geological cross section of the ocean depths.

Having guests will never be boring, to make their jaws drop is the function of this breathtaking piece (as well as to serve an amazing dinner to them): a statement is any living room. Make them sit around a table that captivates the essence of the sea in a perfect and mesmerizing way they’ll never forget.

Abyss Dining Table was created using only ethically sourced materials and in a limited edition of 25 pieces.

Following on from his previous design of the Abyss Coffee Table, this piece is handmade to order by local artisans and in-house craftsmen. While playing with sculpture glass, Plexiglas, and high grade wood from Forest Stewardship Council managed forests and other controlled sourceswood, it makes way for dreams of the sea myths.

Christopher Duffy reveals:

I was looking into sheets of thick glass at my glass manufacturer’s factory, and noticed how the material darkened as they added more layers – the same way the sea does as it deepens. I wanted to use this effect to replicate a real piece of the earth’s sea bed. Like a mythical power had lifted a perfect rectangle straight from the earth’s crust to use as his personal ornament.”
